CBT Training – Learn to ride safely

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

This is where your motorcycle-riding career starts with CBT Training, whether you want to ride a small bike for commuting or riding any size bike for fun. You can train with us at our DVSA approved  centres CBT in Bisley or CBT in Staines-upon-Thames..

At age 16 you can ride a 49cc moped, which is capable of no more than 28mph. This can be an automatic or manual gearbox.

At age 17, you can ride a motorcycle or scooter of up to 125cc with a power output of no more than 14.6 BHP. These bikes are often referred to as “Learner Legal.”

Before you can ride unaccompanied on the road you must complete Compulsory Basic Training. This is a legal requirement before you can ride on the road as a learner. It is a one-day course to give you the basic skills and confidence to ride on the road.

CBT training consists of five elements.

A.   Introduction
B.     Practical on site training
C.     Practical on site riding
D.    Practical on road training
E.     Practical on road riding

The five elements must be completed in sequence, you will only be moved on to the next element when your instructor is satisfied you have learnt and demonstrated the theory and practical skills to a safe, basic level.Training for DAS with Motorcycle Training in Surrey

When you have completed all elements to this level a certificate of completion will be issued (DL196).  This validates the provisional entitlement on your driving licence for two years from the date on the certificate. If you do not take and pass both theory and practical tests within the two-year period you will, by law, be required to complete another CBT.
